Orange County Jail Ministry

Chapel services are conducted once a month at the Theo Lacy Jail in Orange.  This jail ministry has been ongoing for 45 years.  It consists of two one-hour meetings on the first Sunday evening of the month.  Inmate attendance at these meetings is voluntary and is conducted in the Theo Lacy chapel.  Normal attendance at each of these meetings is between 50 and 60 men.  The meetings are conducted under the auspices of the Gleaners organization who sponsor all the jail services in Orange County and provide the volunteer chaplains who conduct Bible studies and individual prisoner counseling during the week.

The purpose of these meetings is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with men in both singing and speaking.  Most of the men who come to these meetings are young and the majority are fathers.  Many bring Bibles to these meetings and indicate by this a desire to find a way to change their lives.  At the end of each meeting men are given an opportunity to receive Christ as Savior.  The men also fill out prayer request cards, which are taken and prayed over by those interested in this work. .

The jail team that is involved in this ministry requests your prayers at the time of the services at 6:30 pm and 7.30 pm each first Sunday of the month.  For those wishing to participate in this work please contact John Spence or Tim Boettcher.
