Chapel on Wheels

Released Time Christian Education, also known as Chapel On Wheels, is a ministry to public school children during the school day. RTCE was legally affirmed by the US supreme Court in 1952, with permission from parents as long as classes are held off the school campus. The classes are held next to the schools in parked trailers which have been converted into classrooms.

The purpose of this ministry is to instruct children in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and His plan for their life. Children are taught about who God is, about God’s plan of salvation and how He sent His Son, Jesus, to die and take the punishment for our sins, thus providing the way of salvation. Children are instructed in how worship and prayer are vital to build a close personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Chapel begins with time spent learning a verse together and singing hymns. We then move on to a hands-on lesson while going thru the Old and New Testaments. Using these hands-on object lessons, the children are encouraged to get involved and to see how these stories relate to them in their own lives. The children act out some of the bible stories with costumes. We also have a make believe airline tour of the Holy Land, filmstrips, chalk talks and puppet shows. We finish out our time with prayer. The children are encouraged to pray about specific needs and we worship and praise the Lord Jesus together.

The Lord has used this ministry for the blessing of hundreds of children as well as those who teach them. Every year an average of five to six hundred children in North America attending a RTCE class give their lives to the Lord Jesus. One memory that will stay with me forever is when we were talking in great detail about the Lord Jesus willingly giving up His life for ours when He went to the cross to take our punishment. As we talked, one by one the children broke down in tears and cried. Before our time together was up that day, all but one of them gave their lives to the Lord Jesus.

This ministry belongs to the Lord Jesus and will go on as long as He wills.

Please pray for each child that He sends, that they will open their hearts to the Lord, that they will desire to learn more about Him. Pray that their lives will be changed forever as they turn them over to their Savior and make Him Lord and Master of their own life!
